Writing Contest Submission Guidelines

The Josephs Inkwell writing contest seeks writing in two categories:

Poetry with Jewish themes.
Each poem must be submitted using its own form (no more than 5 poetry submits per author).

Personal essay with a Jewish theme. All essays should be no more than2,000 words in length. Please use the submit form below.
A prize of $500 sponsored by Temple Emanu-El of Atlanta will be awarded to the best submission in each category. Honorable mentions and selected submissions will also be displayed on the website.
Entries will be read by a panel of Jewish teens. They will look for creativity, originality, relevance to the times, and quality of writing. Author identifiers will be concealed from the panel of readers until prizes are announced.
The contest is open to teens (13-19 years old) writing in English.

Entries must be received by April 1st, 2025.
Joseph’s Inkwell will have the right to publish any work entered into the contest.
